About the Natural Transitions series:

Natural Transitions 08 is part of an abstracted landscape series, created in monotype, that explores the ever-changing transition between water and land.  I find myself mesmerized by the relationship playing out along the shore's edge moment by moment;

water rolls in

        water rolls out

  never the same path twice

                 subtly changing the land

I choose the medium of monotype to express my fascination because this artistic process creates a one-of-a-kind atmospheric print with ethereal qualities that captures the elusive relationship of water meeting land.

Work selected for ARTS 2017

I'm so thrilled that my monotype collage titled 'Land Studies: An Interpretation of Canadian Geography' has been selected for ARTS 2017. The theme of the exhibition is Canada 150.

The opening of the show will be this Friday night, June 23rd, at the Surrey Art Gallery, 7-9pm.

Artist Statement:

This monotype college represents the six basic geographic regions of Canada: Canadian Cordillera, Arctic, Prairies, Lowlands, Appalachians and Canadian Shield. I tried to distil the regions down to what I considered their simplest characteristics then set them against a monotype backdrop of blue to represent our oceans, rivers and lakes. The dark lines running through the piece point to the interconnections in our land: people to the land, people to the water and people to each other. This great land is the stage from which our Canadian stories are told.
