Back in November I attended a really great Opus demo with Lisa Ochowycz. She's an amazing local Vancouver artist with a 'passion for abstraction'. Here she is demonstrating her painting process.
Besides being inspired by Lisa's paintings and her story about coming to art (which I relate too) - I really liked how at the beginning of each painting session she starts out with a mini exploration. She tapes paper to the studio wall and explores line and shape with charcoal or another art tools. These pieces are purely process and are not meant to show or considered a finished work. When she feels 'warmed up' she'll move on to one of her several paintings in progress.
I think I'm going to try and incorporate this artistic disciple into my studio time too.
