Learning to Fly is a monotype painting series featuring textured landscapes, ‘safety lines’ and small birds.
Birds are meant to fly. When they keep themselves tied to things preventing them from flying, they are not living out their God given design and purpose. This is how I lived for a long time but am pleased to say that is a part of the past. This series is about leaving placed of perceived safety to soar and fulfill your purpose. If these little birds taking flight could talk I think they’d be shouting: “This is what I’ve been made for! This is what I’m meant to do!”
The Learning to Fly series expresses something deep inside me that for many years I couldn’t express. I made it to satisfy something inside me and I’m pleased to say that it has connected with others as well. I have been very touched by how others have responded to it.
I hope that this series continues to connect with others who have taken chances and stepped out to do what they have always felt they were born to do.
